GARY WAS A FANTASTIC PERSON VERY POPULAR WITH EVERYONE WHO HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING HIM.
GARY WENT TO CORINTHIAN AVENUE PRIMARY SCHOOL AND THEN ON TO WEST DERBY BOYS COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL.
HE PLAYED FOOTBALL FOR MOSCOW F.C IN MAIDEN LANE LIVERPOOL
AND GARY WAS A MAD EVERTONIAN BIG DUNCAN FERGUSON WAS HIS HERO OUT OF ALL THE EVERTON PLAYERS HA HAD MET.
GARY WAS ENGAGED TO ASHLEY BUCHANAN THEY HAD BEEN TOGETHER SINCE THEY WERE 13 AND WHEN WE MOVED TO LIVE IN SPAIN ASHLEY LIVED WITH US UNTILL SHE BECAME PREGNANT.
GARY AND ASHLEY MOVED BACK TO LIVERPOOL AND ON 3rd OCTOBER 2005 ASHLEY GAVE BIRTH TO KIERAN A LOVELY LITTLE BOY.
IN THE JANUARY OF 2006 GARY RETUNED TO WORK WITH ME IN SPAIN TO SAVE UP FOR HIS WEDDING WITH ASHLEY,
JUST A FEW WEEKS LATER GARY WAS ATTACKED BY A GROUP OF 12 SPANISH THUGS AND WAS MURDERED ONE OF THE GANG RAN AT GARY WITH A MACHETTE AND SWIPED IT ACROSS GARY'S STOMACH THE INJURIES WERE SHOCKING AND AT MALAGA HOSPITAL THE SURGEON SAID TO ME THAT HE HAD BEEN A SURGEON FOR 25 YEAERS AND THAT GARY SUFFERED THE WORST INJURIES HE HAD EVER SEEN FROM A SINGLE WOUND THEY TRIED SO HARD TO SAVE GARY BUT HE WAS TOO BAD.
I HAD TO DO THE MOST AWFUL THING IN MY LIFE AND PHONE ASHLEY I
KNEW SHE WAS AT HOME WITH JUST BABY KIERAN AND I FELT SO BAD IN TELLING HER WHAT HAD HAPPENED,ASHLEY GOT A FLIGHT TO SPAIN A FEW HOURS LATER AND ARRIVED IN TIME FOR GARY TO DIE IN HER ARMS.
KIERAN WAS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD TO THE DAY WHEN HIS FANTASTIC FATHER DIED AS HE IS GROWING UP NOW HE IS SO MUCH LIKE HIS DAD
WITH A LOVELY SMILE HE IS ADORD BY EVERYONE.
THE WORST THING IS AS I WRITE THIS THE DAY BEFORE KIERAN GETS CHRISTENED 20th APRIL 2008 WE ARE STILL FIGHTING WITH THE SPANISH AUTHORITIES TO HAVE GARY'S BODY RETURNED TO THE U.K FOR A PROPER FUNERAL. WE WITH THE AMAZING HELP OF TOP NORTH WEST SOLICITOR E.REX MAKIN OF LIVERPOOL AND NORTH WEST ARLENE MCCARTHY MEP ARE IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THIS CASE TO THE EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS TO GET GARY HOME THE SPANISH HAVE TREATED MY FAMILY SHOCKING, DISGUSTING, AWFUL, UNCARING, HORRIBLY INFACT THERE IS NOT A WORD TO DESCRIBE HOW BAD THEY HAVE BEEN TO US.
HAD A SPANISH BOY BEEN MURDERED IN OUR COUNTRY HE WOULD HAVE
BEEN FLOWN HOME WITHIN DAYS AND HELPED THE FAMILY, WE HAVE HAD NO HELP, ADVICE OR APOLOGIES OFF THE SPANISH AT ALL AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO KEEP THE BODY OF ANYONE WHO DIES IN SPAIN WITH THIS FACT I WOULD NOW URGE PEOPLE TO GO ELSEWHERE ON THEIR HOLIDAYS,DONT DONT GO TO SPAIN AGAIN.

Steve, Lee and to you all, what can I say. I never seen your son grow into a man - rather gentleman as he would have been. When I knew him, his manners were impeccable and he was a credit to you both. I always said "I'll be a mate to you cause if you grow up as big as your dad then,,,,,). They are memories I will keep. I was shocked to hear the trouble you had to bring him home and glad you got him to your new home.
I live and work in North Wales now, the days have gone quickly, but justice will never be done for the taking of a shy, well mannered boy, who grey into a man with the same valus and who doted on Everton.
I dont know what else to say as its difficult.

on the day went to downing st leaving at 4 am i aread on the text that the british goverment are giving money to iranian p o ws for bad treatment why can,t they look after those who live in great britain . all we want is our gary,s body back so his friends and family ( mainly his nan and grandad ) can attend .or will the goverment pay for us to visit his niche 2 or 3 times ayear ( i think not ) thanks to all who signed petition and gave hard earned money .do we ask for to much . aunty karen , uncle dave , tamar , adam . sophie , simon , melanie , aidie ,chloe , the twins , owen , natalie, ste ,and kids and nan and grandad .

Hello Steve, I signed your petition in Kirkby, and listened as you relayed your awful plight, and showed your relentless determination to bring Gary home where he rightly belongs...you are a fantastically courageous family, and I just wanted to let you know that i will be thinking about you when you go to Downing Street on Friday..myself and my two little boys have said a prayer for you all in the hope you can bring your son home soon...keep fighting mate, you're an inspiration, I believe Gary would have been exceptionally proud to call you his Dad...RIP Gary. MY DAUGHTER AND I SPOKE TO GARYS DAD IN PRESCOT ON SUNDAY 6/7/08 OUTSIDE TESCO WE SIGNED THE PETITION AND ONLY WISH WE COULD DO MORE TO HELP BRING HIS SON HOME TO WHERE HE CAN BE LAID TO REST SURLY THAT IS NOT TO MUCH TO ASK I HOPE THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE THEM THIS WISH . ITS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE MET GARYS DAD AND HE IS A LOVELY MAN TO TALK TO R LOVE IS WITH HIM HIS WIFE AND FAMILY. I myself are from Hull and was visiting my sister in kirkby on Saturday 5th July 2008. My sister and myself had a lengthy conversation with gary's mum Lee and was shocked at what the spanish authorities are doing. Our feelings are with Gary's mum and family. I spoke with Gary's Mum today in Kirkby town centre as i signed this petition, and i felt so desperately sad for her, and the whole family.
